W2W Intro
Welcome to our information exchange part of the website.
Although the buzzword today is ‘Blog’ we think that they are sometimes abused a little we feel that some ‘Blogs’ are a little pretentious, self centred and opinionated. ( Rant over!! )
This section is here as a repository for current and past questions thereby creating an ongoing library growing with each and every post. As this section grows more people will add to it and hopefully posts of previous experiences and problems solved will become a godsend to those that are currently ‘head scratching’ over their dilemma.
(We have only recently launched this Blog so apologises for the initial lack of postings, if we get anywhere near as many postings as we do emails asking us for help and advice, we expect this section of the site to expand vastly & blossom into a good source of reference)
Please read through the ‘Your Comments’ section which can be found in the above link, this is where you can leave a question or read through other posts and also read our answers to postings, you may even find the solution to your query from someone who has already ‘been there’
We will answer all your questions on a personal basis (well we may copy and paste some bits!)
Our intentions are to always offer you the best unbiased advice, based on over twenty years “hands on” experience in the external wall renovation business
The link-box on the right is what is termed a ‘blogroll’ (why new terms have to be invented beats us) but anyway its a list of companies and organisations that we believe will be able to offer you services or products that may be of use to you during your project
If you have a site yourself and would like your readers to view our content, then feel free to subscribe to our ‘RSS’ feed found top right.
Regards

Re:Self coloured Render
Can you please give advice as to how to clean “self coloured” render, which has become badly blackened by damp below a parapet wall. (We obviously do not want to decorate)
Many thanks
Christopher

Hi Christoper
Cleaning Render
You could use a bio wash treatment; you can buy most fungicidal washes from your local decorators or of course B&Q
Best do a small test patch first, I would recommend that you wet the wall down first then spray the acticide wash on following the instructions.
To clean self coloured render you could also use mild bleach detergent and warm water dilution again does a small test patch scrub with a medium bristle brush. Wash either treatment off with warm water,
As I am sure you will appreciate nothing lasts forever and even your through coloured render will require over painting making to make it fresh again.
We can provide fungicidal breathable paints that inhibit mould growth Ask us for Details
Other things to bear in mind
Keep garden soil levels as far below the system level as possible as soil splashing will soon discolour the base of the system.
finishes, particularly lightly coloured ones.
Dripping overflows and splashes from leaking gutters and down-pipes can soon mark and spoil a new finish. Such leaks should be repaired as soon as possible.
Don’t reverse vehicles up to walls with newly applied finishes on as exhaust emissions quickly leave unsightly black marks.
Care should be taken when handling heavy objects, for example dustbins, near the system. Although the system is resistant to damage, these types of objects particularly near corners can cause damage, which is visibly undesirable although easily repairable.
Plants, trees and creepers can cause staining of lightly coloured finishes and care should therefore be taken in the positioning of them.
Climbing plants, provided they have a properly fixed trellis available for them will not cause any damage to the system. However, they may cause some staining of lightly coloured finishes
